Parts required:
KBC-furnished helmet shield with Pinlock pins preinstalled.
Pinlock lens model DKS032 or DKS043 depending on your helmet model (see above).
Step 1: Remove Shield from the helmet.
Note: Pinlock requires a Pinlock-prepared shield (a shield that has Pinlock pins installed).
Installing the Pinlock lens requires removal of the shield from the helmet. Follow the helmet instructions for removing your shield.
KBC shields come with plugs that need to be removed before installing the pins. Use the tip of a pencil or pen to pop the plug out.
Step 2. Check Pins in shield
Two pins are included with the KBC Pinlock lens. The pins have two functions:
1. mounting the Pinlock lens to the shield
2. providing proper tension on the lens so that the perimeter of the lens silicon seal firmly contacts the shield
Check the pins in the shield to make sure that the eccentric axes posts are in the position as shown in the drawing.
If the pins require repositioning, please refer to Pin Replacement (link to pin replacement page).
Caution: Pinlock lens

There are two sides to the Pinlock lens:
- one side with a perimeter silicon bead which goes against the surface of the shield
- the other side is flat with a protective film covering the surface.
Always grasp the Pinlock lens on its edge and with clean hands. Avoid placing your fingers and hands directly on the surface of the lens.
Step 3. Installing the lens on the pins
Carefully flex the shield so it begins to flatten allowing the Pinlock lens to be easily slipped between and onto the pins.
Take precaution to protect the shield from any scratching by using a cloth or soft surface.
Step 5. Adjusting Tension on the Pinlock lens
To function properly the entire perimeter of the silicone seal on the Pinlock lens must be tight against shield. Click here for instructions.
Lens Models DKS032 and DKS043 is available in four colors to suit various environments.
For example, you can easily replace your tinted daytime lens to a legal, clear lens for night riding.
