Replacing Pinlock pins in Shoei Helmets

NOTE: USE ONLY IN COMBINATION WITH A PINLOCK PREPARED FACE SHIELD.

Step 1: Remove the shield from the helmet.

Note: Pinlock requires a Pinlock-prepared shield (a shield that has Pinlock pins installed).

Installing the Pinlock lens requires removal of the shield from the helmet. Follow the helmet instructions for removing your shield.

Step 2. Remove the Pinlock lens from the shield.

Step 3. Remove the pins from the shield

Push the old pins out of the shield with a plastic object.

Step 4. Fit new pins

The replacement pin is made up of two parts – a washer and a pin that is inserted through the washer. Place the washer on a flat surface with the tapered portion upward. Push the shield onto the washer until the tapered portion lines the hole in the shield.

Leave the shield on the flat surface.  Insert the pin through the center of the washer from the inside of the shield. Push the pin into place with a coin until the pin clicks into place.  Inspect the washer from the outside of the shield to make sure that the pin is fully inserted through the washer.

Check the pins in the shield to make sure that the eccentric axes posts are in the position as shown in the drawing.

Step 5. Replace the lens

Press the outer visor until it is flat and click the Pinlock® lens into position.

 Step 6. Replace the shield

Allow the outer visor to return to its curved shape and fit the shield back on the helmet.
